About Us
Building on a legacy
Building on a legacy
Our family has been on the same land for over 100 years. The land has been very productive. The family has farmed grains, vegetables, livestock feed, cattle, and sheep. A UC Davis study in the late 1950s identified our district as being ideal for certain types of wine grapes, like Chardonnay, that enjoy a combination of hot summer days and cool nights.
Our wine grapes were planted in the late 90s. The rootstock and clones we have were carefully selected to match our soils and climate. The result has been very efficient farming and outstanding Chardonnay wine.
Sustainable by Design
Sustainable by Design
We are committed to modern and effective farming practices. We implement the latest research that apply to our operations and local environment.
Today, sustainability is key, and to get there we use every technique we can. Drip irrigation to conserve water. Internet-connected water and vine sensors in the vineyard blocks. Minimal usage of tractors. Permanent cover crops to reduce and re-use carbon in the atmosphere. Using natural predators such as beneficial insects and hunting birds to control pests. We annually review all practices. And sustainability is important in our winery as well. We only use lightweight bottles. Minimal processing. Careful vetting of vendors. Evaluating the technical disclosures for products that we use. We are very proud that our operations are sustainable-certified. These practices help us to reduce our carbon footprint, enhancing your drinking experience and allowing us to position our brand as planet-friendly. Our Winemaker
Our Winemaker
Instead of relying on the many vaguely acceptable additives used in the industry, Ed Filice spends his office hours in the vineyard, tasting grapes, testing juice, and getting to know his raw material. We spend many hours debating to determine the exact approach that maximizes each lot of wine. Then and only then does he decide how to elevate the raw wine into its peak expression with simple and natural methods and materials. No sugar, grape concentrate, or colorants. Just craftsmanship resulting from his over 40 years of experience.
Our Promise
Our Promise
If all this sounds complicated, complex, and expensive, it is. The owners, Paul and Carol Morrison, are committed to being great stewards of the land and our brands. Simply put, the family goal is to meet the high expectations of our customers.
