We take pride in being customer friendly and having business practices that are simple and effective. We want you to be completely satisfied with your wine and order experience. What is an easy way to contact JL Wood?

We want to earn the trust and satisfaction of you, our customer. For internet orders only email us at paul@jlwoodwine.com.

Do you operate a wine tasting room that I can visit or use to pick up wine orders?

No. Our winemaking operations are conducted in Oakville, California, in the heart of Napa Valley. We do not operate a wine tasting room. Nor do we have a winery location that you can visit. We’ve determined that managing our costs is critical to our ability to maintain our standards. We have decided that the overhead that comes with a tasting room is not for us at this time.

How much does shipping cost?

All shipping is free. Also, we do not pass along seasonal up-charges of the major carriers.

Do you ship to all states?

No. We only ship to states where we have an approved state license for out of state wine shippers. A list of currently authorized states is shown before check-out. As we grow, we are adding to our list of authorized states. Check back with us if your state is currently not on our list.

These are the currently authorized states:

California, Texas, Washington (state), Washington DC, Michigan, and Florida.

Who are your package carriers?

We use FedEx and UPS. Our shipments are known to them to be alcohol products and are subject to their special requirements. An adult signature is required for every delivery. Notes on the door or phone calls to the carrier are not acceptable to authorize delivery.

Will you deliver to a post office box or other address?

No. We do not ship to addresses other than verifiable home addresses.

Delivery requires an adult signature. Please note that our carriers will not make deliveries to an adult person appearing inebriated.

How long before my order gets to me?

We estimate an order may take 7 to 10 days. It may take a few days longer during peak holiday periods. Also, we reserve the right to temporarily hold your order before shipment if we believe the weather along the way may be severe and impact the condition of the wine.

When do you charge my credit card?

We charge your credit card when the wine is shipped.

How often do you ship?

We ship every day of the week, Monday through Friday. However, we reserve the right to temporarily hold your order before shipment if we believe the weather along the way may be severe and impact the condition of the wine.

Do you offer gift-wrapping services?

Not at this time. 

What if I’m not home when a shipment arrives?

No worries. The carrier will leave you a note that they attempted delivery. You will have about ten days to arrange for a delivery where the carrier can obtain an adult signature. If available, carriers may allow pick-up at nearby locations; however, an adult signature is still required.

Can I cancel an order?

Orders cancelled before shipment from our warehouse are subject to a small re-stocking fee of $10.00.

What if my wine arrives damaged? Can I return it?

We guarantee our products. If they arrive damaged, such as box damage or leakage, we will either replace your order or provide you with a refund. There are laws that prevent the return of opened or damaged alcoholic products. We are unable to provide refunds for wines damaged by adverse weather (extreme heat and cold) during shipping. Please consider weather conditions between California and your address before ordering. We may ask you to send us pictures by email of the damaged box or the wine in a glass. To report damage or other problems with your shipment and request a refund, please report the problem by email: paul@jlwoodwine.com.

How do you prevent shipments to minors?

For all orders, we use a screening service to validate shipping addresses and that customers are of legal age in their state or legal jurisdiction. If we cannot verify the personal information submitted with an order, our policy is to not accept the order. Adult signatures are required for all deliveries. We also check to ensure that the local jurisdiction allows alcohol sales via the internet and is allowed by local law (for example, we do not ship to “dry” counties).
